創世記 創造亞當

西斯庭小教堂的天頂畫(the Sistine Ceiling Frescoes),是米開朗基羅的繪畫藝術豐碑, 它與同一教堂的另一幅祭壇壁畫《最後的審判》（the Last Judgement），是他一生最具代表性的兩大巨制，這兩幅壁畫工程也是義大利文藝復興盛期最偉大的藝術貢獻。

西斯庭天頂畫以聖經《創世記》（Genesis）為主線,繪畫總面積接近600平方米。在拱頂上按照它的長矩形(全長40米,寬14米),在中央分割成九個畫面,分別描繪《神分光暗》 Separation of Light from the Darkness、《創造日月與動植物》 Creation of the Stars and Planets、《創造大地和水》 Separation of Land and Water、《創造亞當》 Creation of Adam、《創造夏娃》 Creation of Eve、《原罪·逐出樂園》The Fall and Expulsion from Paradise、《挪亞祭獻》The Sacrifice of Noah、《洪水》The Deluge、《挪亞醉酒》The Drunkenness of Noah九個主題。周圍再以建築結構等柱壁裝飾,把每個畫面分隔開。
